Ethelwulf was born in Wessex, England.  Ethelwulf's father was King Egbert and his mother is Queen Redburh.  His paternal grandfather was King Eahlmund of Kent and his paternal grandmother is Princess of Kent; his maternal grandparents were King Pepin ("the Short") III Martel and Bertrada ("the Younger/Au Grand Pied", "big foot") II of Laon.  He was an only child.  He died on January 13th, 0858 in England.  He was buried in Steyning.


Ethelwulf's family with Queen Osburh of Isle of Wight

‌Ethelwulf and Osburh were married in a religious ceremony in 0830.  They had two sons named Athelred and "the Great".
