Godgifu was born in Wessex, England.  Godgifu's father was King Aethelred ("the Unready" (without counsel)) II of the English and her mother was Princess Emma of Normandy.  Her paternal grandparents were King Edgar ("the Peaceful") of the English and Aelfthryth; her maternal grandparents were Duke Richard ("the Fearless", "Sans Peur") I of Normandy and Gunnora Haraldsdottir de Crepon. She had a brother and two sisters, named Ingelric, Godgifu Goda and Adgina. She had two half-brothers and three half-sisters, named "Ironside", of England, of England, Aelgifu and Ealdgyth.  She died about 1055 in England.


Godgifu's family with Count Drogo of Vexin & Mantes

‌Godgifu and Drogo were married in a religious ceremony about 1025 in England.  They had a son and a daughter, named "the Timid" and Adele.
