Robert was born about 1123 in Reims, Champagne, France.  Robert's father was King Louis ("the Fat") Capet VI and his mother was Adelaide de Maurienne of Savoy.  His paternal grandparents were King Philip ("the Fair") Capet I of France and Countess Bertha of Holland; his maternal grandparents were Count Humbert ("the Fat") de Maurienne II of Savoy and Countess Gisele of Burgundy. He had two brothers named "the Younger" and Peter.  He died in Braine, Champagne, France.  He was buried in Braine, Champagne, France.


Robert's first family with Agnaes de Baudement

‌Robert and Agnaes were married in a religious ceremony in 1144 in Ende, France.  They had a son and a daughter, named Robert and Alix.


Robert's second family with Harvise de Salisbury

They had a daughter named Adelheid.
