Maud was born in Freiston, Lincolnshire, England.  Maud's father was John de Vaux and her mother was Dervorgilla MacDougal de Galloway.  Her paternal grandparents are Oliver de Vaux and Petronilla de Croun; her maternal grandparents were Alan de Galloway and Princess Margaret Huntingdon of Scotland. She had a half-brother and five half-sisters, named John, Cecilia, Ada, Eleanor, Eupheme and Euphemia.


Maud's family with Lord William de Ros II or III of Hamlake

‌Maud and William were married in a religious ceremony in 1287.  They had a son and two daughters, named William, Agnes and Anne.
