Maud was born about 1120 in Gloucestershire, England.  Maud's father was Earl Robert de Mellent ("the King's Son") de Caen of Gloucester and her mother was Mabel FitzRobert.  Her paternal grandparents were King Henry ("Beauclerc", "Fine Scholar") Plantagenet I of England and Isabel de Beaumont; her maternal grandfather was Robert FitzHammon and her maternal grandmother is Sibyl de Montgomery. She had two brothers and two sisters, named Philip FitzRobert, "Mafonache", Emma fitzRobert and Mabira.  She died on July 29th, 1189 in Chester, Chestershire, England.


Maud's family with Ranulph des Gernons

‌Maud and Ranulph were married in a religious ceremony about 1141 in Gloucestershire, England.  They had a son named Hugh.
