William was born in 1290 in Helmsley, Yorkshire, England.  William's father was Lord William de Ros II or III of Hamlake and his mother is Maud de Vaux.  His paternal grandparents were Lord Robert de Ros III of Helmsley and Isabel d'Albini; his maternal grandparents were John de Vaux and Dervorgilla MacDougal de Galloway. He had two sisters named Agnes and Anne.  He died in Priory, Kirkham, Yorkshire, England.  He was buried in Kirkham, Yorkshire, England.


William's family with Margery de Badlesmere

‌William and Margery were married in a religious ceremony on November 25th, 1326 in Castle Wark, Northumberland, England.  They had a son and a daughter, named Thomas and Elizabeth.
