Pedro, known as "the Great", was born in 1239 in Barcelona, Barcelona, Spain.  "the Great"'s father was King Jayme ("the Conqueror") I of Aragon and his mother was Princess Yolande of Hungary.  His paternal grandparents were King Pedro ("the Catholic") II of Aragon and Maria of Montpellier; his maternal grandparents were King Andrew II of Hungary and Gertrude of Meran. He had two sisters named Yolanda and Isabelle.  He was the second oldest of the three children.  He died in Villafranca Del Panades, Barcelona, Aragbon.  He was buried in Igreja Da Santa Cruz, Coimbra, Coimbra, Portugal.


"the Great"'s family with Princess Costanza von Hohenstauffen of Sicily

‌"the Great" and Costanza were married in a religious ceremony on July 15th, 1262 in Montpellier, Hberault, France.  They had a son and a daughter, named Frederick and Isabel.
