Agnes was born about 1111 in Wien, Wien, Austria.  Agnes' father was Margrave Leopald ("the Saint") von Babenberg III of Austria and her mother was Princess Agnes of Franconia.  Her paternal grandparents were Margrave Leopald ("the Fair") II of Austria and Ida of Cham; her maternal grandparents were Emperor Henry IV of Germany and Bertha of Maurienne. She had three sisters named Bertha, Jhutte and Gertrude.  She was the second oldest of the four children. She had two half-brothers and a half-sister, named Frederik, Konrad and Kunigunde.  She died after January 25th, 1157.

‌Agnes and "the Exile" were married in a religious ceremony about 1127.  They had a son and a daughter, named Boleslaw and Richeza.
