Leopald, known as "the Fair", was born about 1055 in Tulln, Niederèosterreich, Austria.  "the Fair"'s father was Margrave Ernst ("the Valiant", "the Bold") of Austria and his mother was Princess Adelheid of Wettin.  His paternal grandparents were Margrave Adalbert ("the Victorious") of Austria and Adelheid of Venice; his maternal grandparents were Margrave Dedi von Wettin II of Ostmark and Princess Oda of the Ostmark.  He was an only child.  He died on October 12th, 1096.


"the Fair"'s family with Ida of Cham

‌"the Fair" and Ida were married in a religious ceremony about 1065 in Cham, Oberpfalz, Bavaria.  They had a son and two daughters, named "the Saint", Adelheid and Elizabeth.
