Margaret was born on June 2nd, 1202 in Constantinople, Constantinople, Turkey.  Margaret's father was Emperor Baldwin (VI) or IX of Flanders and her mother was Mary of Champagne.  Her paternal grandparents were Baldwin V of Hainault and Margaret of Alsace; her maternal grandparents were Count Henry ("the Liberal") de Champagne I and Princess Mary Capet of France.  She was an only child.  She died at the age of 77 on February 10th, 1280.


Margaret's first family with ArchDeacon Bouchard d'Avesnes of Laon

‌Margaret and Bouchard were married in a religious ceremony on July 23rd, 1212.  They had two sons named Jean and Baudouin.


Margaret's second family with Seigneur William de Dampierre

‌Margaret and William were married in a religious ceremony in 1218.  They had a son named Guy.
