Born at Bingley (Keighley), Yorkshire, England in 1853
in 1861, William (7) with his parents Henry & Sarah Smith (40 & 36) with Mary (11), Jane (10) at Lime Kiln Lane, Micklethwaite, Bingley, Yorkshire probably in a house close to the Leeds-Liverpool canel in a village now known as Crossflatts.
In 1871, William (17) was still there with mother Sarah and step-father John Foulds (both 44), sister Mary (21) and three half-siblings.
In 1876, William married Lucy and moved to Keighley about 1879.
By 1881, William (27) was living at 9 Grouse Street, Keighley with wife Lucy (25), sons Haney (4) and Hartley (7mo) and three loghers (all railway platelayers)..
In 1891, William (37) had become an Iron Moulder. Lucy (35) was at home with Harry (14), Percy (8), Ernest (6), Ethel (4), Joseph (2) and 2 boarders.
In 1901, William and Lucy (47 & 45) are with Arthur (20), Percy (18), Ernest (16), Ethel (14), Joseph (12) and two boarders.
In 1916, William a farmer and Lucy (61 & 59) and son Arthur (34) were in Humboldt, Saskatchewan, Canada.
William died in 1908 and Lucy died in the USA.
