    • On Friday last, Mrs. Pickles, of Marley, near Bingley, died of her injuries she received be falling onto the fire in the absence of her husband and daughter: the former was attending a funeral at the time, and the latter had gone to a neighbouring farm house for milk.  Something was baking in the oven, and the poor woman, who had been rendered infirm by a paralytic stroke, was endeavouring to attend it, when she fell onto the fire, and was so seriously injured as to occasion her death.  An inquest has been held, and a verdict of "Accidently Burnt" returned.
Mary was born in November 1788 at Colne and her baptism took place on December 25th, 1788 at St. Bartholomew's (Colne).1 2  Mary's father was James Roberts and her mother was Lucy Coulthurst.  Her paternal grandparents were James Roberts and <unknown>; her maternal grandparents were Henry Colthurst and Mary Midgley. She had four brothers and four sisters, named James, Henry, Henry, Will, Betty, Eleanor, Margaret and Ellen.  She died in an accident or as a result of an injury, Accidently Burnt, at the age of 56 on January 30th, 1845 in Marlow (aka Marley).  She was buried on February 3rd, 1845 at All Saints (Bingley).3 4
