Joshua was born in 1687 in Guisborough.1  Joshua's father was Jeremiah Grimshaw and his mother was Mary Stockton.  His paternal grandparents were Abraham Grimshaw and Sarah Collier. He had a brother and a sister, named Caleb and Sarah.  He was the oldest of the three children.  He died at the age of 77 on March 3rd, 1764 in Yorkshire.2
