Mary, known as Polly, was born on May 2nd, 1878 in Birkenhead.1  Polly's father was Joseph (Joe) Mather and her mother was Ellen Tomlinson.  Her paternal grandparents were John Mather and Ellen Buckley; her maternal grandparents were Richard Tomlinson and Ann Bolton. She had three brothers and four sisters, named John, Dick, Samuel, Nell, Sarah, Elizabeth and Betty.  She died at the age of 93 on July 25th, 1971 in Birkenhead.  Her burial was on July 29th, 1971 at the Flaybrick Memorial Gardens.2 3
