General Notes
William was at Goose Cote Hill in 1792 when Alice was baptised. The farm here would later become a workhouse.
17 Jun 1779, William Mather, a weaver, married Alice Holt. Their witness was John Knowles. This is probably the John (born 1746) son of John and Alice Knowles of Turton, who was a similar age.
There is a gap of 13 years, where William and Betty may have had children.
In 1792, William Mather and Betty (nee Holt) has a daughter Alice.
