Joan was born in Chateau De Beaufort, Maine-Et-Loire, France.  Joan's father was King John Plantagenet and her mother was Catharine Swynford Roet.  Her paternal grandparents were King Edward Plantagenet III of England and Queen Philippa Hainault; her maternal grandparents were Sir Knight Payn I de Roet and Catherine de Hainault. She had a brother named Henry. She had a half-brother and a half-sister, named Henry and Elizabeth.  She died on November 13th, 1440 in Howden, Yorkshire, England.  She was buried in Lincoln Catheral, Lincoln, Lincolnshire, England.

‌Joan and Ralph were married in a religious ceremony on November 29th, 1396 in Chateau De Beaufort, Meuse-Et-Loire, France.  They had a son and two daughters, named Richard, Eleanor and Cecily.
