Yolande's father was Baldwin IV OF HAINAULT and her mother was Comtess Alix DE NAMUR. Her paternal grandparents were Count Baldwin III OF HAINAULT and Yolanda OF GUELDRES; her maternal grandparents were Count Godfrey I OF NAMUR & DAGSBURG and Ermensinde OF LUXEMBOURG. She had a brother and two sisters, named Baldwin V, Agnes and Laurance.General Notes
Credited with the first unification of the country, convertedthe Danes to Christianity, and conquered Norway. After hisBaptism his fathers pagan tomb was transformed into a Christianplace of worship.
Introduced Christianity into Denmark, he had the famous Jellingrune stone erected in his parent memory. He was fatally woundedduring a rebellion by his son and successor, Sveng I.
