Ida OF SAXONY 
Ida was born in 1035. Ida's father was Duke Bernhard II OF SAXONY and her mother was Elica VON SCHWEINFURT. Her paternal grandparents were Duke Bernhard Billung II OF SAXONY and Hildeburg VON STADE; her maternal grandparents were Count Henry VON SCHWINFURT and Gerberge OF HENNEBURG. She had a brother and a sister, named Ordulf and Gertrud Billunger. She was the youngest of the three children.General Notes
Credited with the first unification of the country, convertedthe Danes to Christianity, and conquered Norway. After hisBaptism his fathers pagan tomb was transformed into a Christianplace of worship.
Introduced Christianity into Denmark, he had the famous Jellingrune stone erected in his parent memory. He was fatally woundedduring a rebellion by his son and successor, Sveng I.
