Count Godfrey I OF NAMUR & DAGSBURG 
Godfrey I was born in 1067 in Namour, France. Godfrey I's father was Count/ Albert III OF NAMUR and his mother was Ida OF SAXONY. His paternal grandparents were Count Albert II OF NAMUR and Regilinde OF LORRIANE; his maternal grandparents were Duke Bernhard II OF SAXONY and Elica VON SCHWEINFURT. He had a sister named Alice Adelaide. He was the older of the two children. He died at the age of 72 in 1139.General Notes
Credited with the first unification of the country, convertedthe Danes to Christianity, and conquered Norway. After hisBaptism his fathers pagan tomb was transformed into a Christianplace of worship.
Introduced Christianity into Denmark, he had the famous Jellingrune stone erected in his parent memory. He was fatally woundedduring a rebellion by his son and successor, Sveng I.
