Mathilde Billung was born in 0973. Mathilde Billung's father was Duke Herman Billung OF SAXONY and her mother was Hildegarde OF WESTERBOURG. Her paternal grandparents were Duke/Count Hermann Of Saxony BILLUNG and Hildegarde DE WESTERBOURG. She had a brother named Bernhard Billung II. She was the younger of the two children.General Notes
Credited with the first unification of the country, convertedthe Danes to Christianity, and conquered Norway. After hisBaptism his fathers pagan tomb was transformed into a Christianplace of worship.
Introduced Christianity into Denmark, he had the famous Jellingrune stone erected in his parent memory. He was fatally woundedduring a rebellion by his son and successor, Sveng I.
They had a son and a daughter, named Frederick II and Regilinde.
