Frederick II was born in 0996. Frederick II's father was Godfrey DE VERDUN and his mother was Mathilde Billung VON SACHSEN. His paternal grandparents were Count/Count//Count Godfrey "the Captive" D'ARDENNE and Matilda VON SAXONY; his maternal grandparents were Duke Herman Billung OF SAXONY and Hildegarde OF WESTERBOURG. He had a sister named Regilinde. He was the younger of the two children.General Notes
Credited with the first unification of the country, convertedthe Danes to Christianity, and conquered Norway. After hisBaptism his fathers pagan tomb was transformed into a Christianplace of worship.
Introduced Christianity into Denmark, he had the famous Jellingrune stone erected in his parent memory. He was fatally woundedduring a rebellion by his son and successor, Sveng I.
