Charles I's father was King Louis IV Of France and his mother was Gerberge DE SAXE. His maternal grandparents were German Emperor Henri I and Matilda DE RHEINGELHEIM. He was an only child.General Notes
Credited with the first unification of the country, convertedthe Danes to Christianity, and conquered Norway. After hisBaptism his fathers pagan tomb was transformed into a Christianplace of worship.
Introduced Christianity into Denmark, he had the famous Jellingrune stone erected in his parent memory. He was fatally woundedduring a rebellion by his son and successor, Sveng I.
They had a daughter named Adelheid.
