Henry was born in 0950 in Schweinfurt, Bavaria, Germnay. Henry's father was Berthold I VON BABENBURG and his mother was Heliksuinda VON WALBECK. His paternal grandparents were Duke Arnulf I "The Bad" OF BAVARIA and Judith OF FRIULI; his maternal grandparents were Count Lothar II VON WALBECK and Mathilda VON ARNEBURG. Credited with the first unification of the country, convertedthe Danes to Christianity, and conquered Norway. After hisBaptism his fathers pagan tomb was transformed into a Christianplace of worship.
Introduced Christianity into Denmark, he had the famous Jellingrune stone erected in his parent memory. He was fatally woundedduring a rebellion by his son and successor, Sveng I.
