Gerard I "Flaminous " Of Guelders was born in 1053. Gerard I "Flaminous " Of Guelders' father was Heinrich(Dietrich) VON WASSENBERG. He was an only child. He died at the age of 85 in 1138.General Notes
Credited with the first unification of the country, convertedthe Danes to Christianity, and conquered Norway. After hisBaptism his fathers pagan tomb was transformed into a Christianplace of worship.
Introduced Christianity into Denmark, he had the famous Jellingrune stone erected in his parent memory. He was fatally woundedduring a rebellion by his son and successor, Sveng I.
