David, known as Dave, was born on March 20th, 1879 in Tranmere.1  Dave's father was Thomas Hale and his mother was Ann Brereton.  His paternal grandparents were David Hale and Mary Millman; his maternal grandparents were Richard Brereton and Esther Eddowes. He had six brothers and four sisters, named George, Tom, Jack, Ted, Bill, Henry, Mary, Aggie, Annie and Flo.  He was the second oldest of the eleven children.  He died at the age of 83 in April 1962 in Liverpool.  His burial was on April 11th, 1962 at the Yew Tree Cemetery.2 3
