Probate: 3 March. Personal estate £651 8s The will of BRERETON William late of Cacca Dutton in the County of Denbigh who died 16 October 1884 was proved at St Asaph by Roger Brereton of Cacca Dutton Gentleman the son and John Brereton of Harthill in the county of Chester Farmer the nephew the Executors.
According to the chapel records, William was buried at Brown Knowl Chapel in 1884, aged 78. The grave is 5 rows down from the chapel and some 3 graves in from the end of the row. There is probably no headstone (TBC). His widow Mary is buried in the same plot. John Brereton (aged 4) is also buried in the same plot.
Another William Brereton, Yeoman, of Preston on the Hill died the same year (1884) and left a will leving his estate (part) to his wife Jane. This must be another person!. No will.

Unlike older brothers John and Thomas, William and George did not make a Will.
In 1841, William (30) was still with his parents at Harthill, and with (assumed) son Samule (3 mo)
In 1851, Pheobe Tomlinson was a boarder at Fullers moor.
In 1861, William Brereton (53) and Mary (50) were at Fullers Moor (9 acres), with son Roger (16) and niece Emma Clarke (17). In 1863 they were still there. The niece must be on Mary's side of the family.
In 1881, William and Mary Brereton (74 & 70) were at Dutton Cacca with their son Roger (36, unmarried). William was a retired farmer and local Methodist preacher.

Dark Lane Farm, Broxton. Home of William (43) & Mary Brereton (40) and son Roger in 1851. Also (farm hand) brothers George (23), William (18) and Edward Brereton (14) i.e. three sons of Thomas and Martha Brereton. Also two house servants, Emma and Margaret Faulkner were present.
William and Mary were married in a civil ceremony on January 23rd, 1844 in Great Boughton by Reverend John Morris.8

Roger was probably Christened at Harthill, where his cousins where, but records are not indexed this late.

Samuel must have been illegitimate (or adopted) and recorded under his mother's name.
He died at the age of 44 on April 30th, 1885 in Northwich.3
