HEADSTONE - Edward & Martha Brereton
This picture was taken in February 2014 in Is-y-Coed.
Edward was born in April 1836 in Broxton and his christening took place on April 17th, 1836 in Harthill.1 2  Edward's father was Thomas Brereton and his mother was Martha Hughes.  His paternal grandparents were William Brereton Jnr and Mary Tomlinson; his maternal grandparents were William Hughes and Mary Bennion. He had five brothers and five sisters, named John, George, William, Thomas, Samuel, Mary, Elizabeth, Sarah, Anne and Jane.  He was the sixth oldest of the eleven children.  He died at the age of 72 on March 12th, 1909 in Is-y-Coed.  His burial was in March 1909 in Is-y-Coed.3
