Thomas' father was William Lea and his mother was Jane Stubbs. He had two brothers and seven sisters, named John, Charles, Sarah, Frances, Mina, Emma, Sarah, Anne and Jane.  He was the second youngest of the ten children. He had a half-brother named William.  He died at the age of 74 on November 30th, 1910 in Broxton.  He was buried in Harthill.^3 4
