Martha Hughes

Martha was born in 1806 in Hargrave and her baptism took place there on February 16th, 1806.¹²

  Hargrave is a village in the civil parish of Foulk Stapleford, West Cheshire, about equidistant between Chester and Tarporley.

Martha's father was William Hughes and her mother was Mary Bennion. She had two brothers and three sisters, named Samuel, Thomas, Elizabeth, Mary and Hannah. She was the fifth oldest of the six children. She died at the age of 73 in September 1879 in Chester. Her burial was in September 1879 at Brown Knowl (Methodist).³⁴

  According the the Brown Knowl chapel records, Thomas was buried in 1872, aged 64 and his spouse Martha in 1872, aged 73.
