Ann was born in October 1832 in Shocklach and her christening took place there on October 28th, 1832.1 2  Ann's father was George Brereton and her mother was Jane Hopley.  Her paternal grandparents were William Brereton Jnr and Mary Tomlinson; her maternal grandparents were Robert Hopley and Margaret Richards. She had seven brothers and three sisters, named Richard, William, Robert, George, John, Charles, Thomas, Margaret, Mary and Jane.  She was the oldest of the eleven children.  She died at the age of 10 in December 1842 in Horton.  Her burial was on December 30th, 1842 in Tilston.3 3
