Philip was born in 1293 in Fontainebleau, Seint-Et-Marne, France.  Philip's father was Prince Charles de Valois III of France and his mother was Princess Margaret of Anjou.  His paternal grandparents were King Philip III of France and Princess Isabelle of Aragon; his maternal grandparents were King Charles II of Naples and Princess Marie of Hungary. He had a sister named Jeanne. He had a half-sister named Isabelle.  He died at the age of 57 on August 22nd, 1350 in Nogent-Le-Roi, Eure-Et-Loire, France.  He was buried in St Denis, Seine-St Denis, France.

‌Philip and Jeanne were married in a religious ceremony on May 19th, 1328 in Reims, Marne, France.  They had a son named John.
