Nathan Mather

Nathan was born in August 1834 in Rivington and his baptism took place on August 31st, 1834 at St. Katherine (B'rod) conducted by Curate J Whitaker.¹²

Nathan's father was Thomas Mather and his mother was Amy (Amey or Emy) Worsley. His paternal grandparents were Edward (Nedde) Mather and Mary Hough. He had four brothers and four sisters, named George, James, Isaac, Thomas, Esther, Peggy, Lucy and Ellen. He was the seventh oldest of the nine children. He had four half-brothers and four half-sisters, named John, Edward, Thomas, William, Mary, Alice, Ellen and Catherine. He died at the age of 34 in May 1869 in Adlington. His burial was on May 16th, 1869 in Adlington.³

- George, James and Isaac were coal miners in 1851 (and probably also Nathan unless he was a housekeeper!), living at Addlington Common.
  
  April 1861, Lucy Charnock (28) and Nathan Mather (27) were living with Henry Mather (63) and described as son and daughter. This is presumably an uncle as their father Thomas had died in 1850.
  
  14 Jul 1861, Nathan Mather (27), son of Thomas Mather married Martha Hargreaves (22), daughter of Richard at Adlington Christ Church.
