John Mather

1697 John Mather (St Peters)

John was born on November 16th, 1697 in Turton and his baptism took place on December 1st, 1697 at St. Peter's (Bolton).¹

Birth Notes
- Expected to be the brother of Ralph, as both families lived at Charnock. Although baptised 3 years before married, this is a good match as son of Thomas and Margaret (as expected), and Turton which is close to Anglezark.

John's father was Thomas Mather and his mother was Margaret Kellett. He had two brothers and a sister, named Ralph, Thomas and <female>. He was the oldest of the four known children. He died at the age of 80 in November 1777 in Anglezarke. His burial was on November 3rd, 1777 in Rivington.¹²

  On 8 Jan 1716, John Mather, son of Thomas Mather of Turton had a female bastard child recorded at Bury Patitions. The mother may have been Ann Knowles. John married Ann Knowles in 1722.
  
  John was a Yeoman in 1726 (when Susannah was buried).
