Nedde's father was John Mather and his mother was <unknown>. His paternal grandparents were John Mather and Ann Knowles. He had two brothers and four sisters, named John, Nathan, Mary, Betty, Aggie and Alice. Nedde and Aggie were twins. He died at the age of 53 in July 1809 in Adlington. His burial was on July 25th, 1809 in Rivington.²

  Neddy has daughters Agnes (b.2 Jun 1797) and Betty (12 Jan 1800), names after his two sisters. Other baptisms have the name Edward as father.
  
  Edward was a weaver of Adlington (where all his children are born). However, each child is baptised at a different Chapel: Chorley; Blackrod; Rivington, and Chorley again thereafter.
