John Mather

John was born in 1722 in Heath Charnock and his baptism took place on July 22nd, 1722 in Radcliffe.¹

- John, son of John Mather of Lowton, baptised at Leigh 14 Jun 1713 is possible but unlikely.
  
  John son of Thomas Mather (no abode) baptised at Leigh 19 Oct 1725 is possible and more likely as date closer to expected.

John's father was John Mather and his mother was Ann Knowles. His paternal grandparents were Thomas Mather and Margaret Kellett. He had a brother and two sisters, named Thomas, Susannah and Margaret. He was the oldest of the four known children. He died at the age of 67 in June 1789 in Anderton. His burial was on June 7th, 1789 in Rivington.²
