Margaret was born in 1727 in Anglezarke and her baptism took place on February 11th, 1727 in Rivington.1  Margaret's father was John Mather and her mother was Ann Knowles.  Her paternal grandparents were Thomas Mather and Margaret Kellett. She had two brothers and a sister, named John, Thomas and Susannah.  She was the youngest of the four known children.
