Ken was missing from the 1939 register, so may have already gone overseas. Therefore no birth date available. However, AdrianB has a birthdate of 24 Dec 1920 which is consistant with a Q1/1921 birth registration.

Died: Kidney Failure (mum thought while in India) around 1950, although it was in Tiko Hospital, Victoria, British Cameroons, Nigeria.

Ken was missing from the 1939 register, so may have already gone overseas with the Army.
Ken was a major in the Army in India. Died fairly young while in Africa, which realy hurt his mother, who went down hill after that.
Kenneth sailed to Kiko, Cameroon on the Tilapa departing on the 2 Oct 1950 from Avonmouth. He was working as a rubber planter. He died there a year later.
It was reported in the London Gazette (30-Apr-1943, page 1962) that on the 22nd Nov 1942 the King had approved the promotion of Sgt. Richard Kenneth Bereton in the Indian Army.
