Florence, known as Florrie, was born in June 1881 in Birkenhead.1  Florrie's father was John Brereton and her mother was Eliza (Lizzie) Batho.  Her paternal grandparents were Richard Brereton and Esther Eddowes; her maternal grandparents were George Batho and Elizabeth Kirkham. She had three brothers and three sisters, named John, George, Bill, Ada, Ettie and May.  She was the second oldest of the seven children.  She died at the age of 73 on April 13th, 1955 in Bebington.2
