William's father was William John Douglas and his mother was Agnes Carmichael. His paternal grandparents were Archibald Douglas and Margaret Jane Wray; his maternal grandparents were James Carmichael and Agnes Stevenson. He had two brothers and a sister, and also a sibling of unknown gender, named James, Archibald, Margaret and Douglas. He was the second oldest of the five children. He died due to a medical problem, Duodenal ulcer, illness lasting 10 years. Operation under Gas, oxygen, Ether. Heart failure., at the age of 45 on March 25th, 1949 in Govan. The funeral took place in Renfrew and was arranged by S.C.W.S Funeral Undertaking Dept.. He was buried on March 28th, 1949 in Renfrew.345

Didn't believe in insurance, but Annie took out life insurance on him (via her sister in Prudential Assurance) without telling him. The payout was about £100.

Occupancy/Contact Notes
In the early 1930s he worked on the construction of a hydroelectric plant at Cameron Falls, near Port Arthur. His wife remained in their house in Toronto. During the periods spent at the site, he, and all the others carried a revolver for defence against bears. He took it back to Scotland, where Ewan Douglas remebers it being kept, illegally, in the cutlery drawer in the kitchen during WW2.
He lived in Renfrew for fourteen years from 1935 to 1949.6
He lived in Canada for six years and zero months from April 15th, 1929 to April 1935.7
