James Carmichael

James was born on June 12th, 1843 in Easdale.¹²

  7 in 1851 census, suggesting born between 31-mar-1843 and 31-mar-1844
  24 in 1871 census, 34 yrs according to 1881 census , so born between Apr 4 1846 and Apr 3 1847
  45 in 1891 census (Apr 5), suggesting born 4th or 5th Apr 1846.
  However exactly same applies to wife, so more likely they added or subtracted a year at one of the censuses
  23 on 6-nov-1868, suggesting born between 7-nov-1844 and 6-nov-1845

James' father was Archibald Carmichael and his mother was Ann McQueen. His maternal grandparents were John McQueen and Ann McConnell. He had three brothers and three sisters, named Donald, John, Archibald, Sarah, Elisabeth and Anne. He was the youngest of the seven children. He died due to a medical problem, locomotor ataxia, at the age of 50 on November 11th, 1893 in Tynemouth. He was buried on November 13th, 1893 in North Shields.³⁴
