Agnes' father was James Carmichael and her mother was Agnes Stevenson. Her paternal grandparents were Archibald Carmichael and Ann McQueen; her maternal grandparents were William Stevenson and Agnes Findlay. She had five brothers and three sisters, named Archibald, James, William, Charles, Archibald, Annie, Jessie and Mary. She was the fourth youngest of the nine children. She died from cancer, Cachexia, Carcinoma of stomach,, at the age of 70 on September 25th, 1948 in Renfrew.³
