Nancy's father was Nathaniel (Nathan) Mather and her mother was Alice Brooks. Her paternal grandparents were Richard Mather and Hannah Knowles. She had five brothers and two sisters, named Peter, William, John, Nathaniel, Joseph, Hannah and Alice. She was the fifth oldest of the eight children. She had a half-brother named John. She died at the age of 78 in June 1916 in Rhodes (nr. Middleton). Her burial was on June 10th, 1916 in Rhodes (nr. Middleton).³⁴
