Alice Mather

Alice was born in March 1846 in Middleton and her baptism took place on April 2nd, 1854 at St. Leonard (Middleton).¹²

Alice's father was Nathaniel (Nathan) Mather and her mother was Alice Brooks. Her paternal grandparents were Richard Mather and Hannah Knowles. She had five brothers and two sisters, named Peter, William, John, Nathaniel, Joseph, Hannah and Nancy. She was the youngest of the eight children. She had a half-brother named John. She died at the age of 33 in October 1879 in Rhodes (nr. Middleton). Her burial was on November 1st, 1879 in Rhodes (nr. Middleton).²

  In 1854: Alice wasnt baptissed until she was 9 years old, together with siblings Nathanier and Nancy.
  
  In 1871, Alice (26) was still single, living with parents Nathaniel and Alice (69 & 65) in Middleton
  
  1 Aug 1874, Alice married Charles Mills, an Etcher. Thery were married 4 yeard before Charles died in 1848, and allice in 1879. There may well be children, but no baptisms. Any children would be likely adopted out or taken in by other family..
  
  Oct 1879, Alice, widow of Charles Mills, Thorpe Street, Rhodes died aged only 33.
