John Mather

John was born in March 1839 in Edgworth.¹

John's father was Joseph Mather and his mother was Betty (Elizabeth) Cooper. His paternal grandparents were Isaac Mather and Alice Fielding. He had four brothers and six sisters, named Charles, Andrew, Joseph, James, Elizabeth, Sophia, Frances, Alice, Jane and Sarah. He was the eighth oldest of the eleven children. He died at the age of 44 on October 29th, 1883 in Turton.²

  The will of John Mather late of the "Railway" Hotel, Bromley Cross, Turton near Bolton in the County of Lancaster, Publican who died 29 October 1883 at the "Railway" Hotel was proved at Manchester by Mary Mather of the "Railway" Hotel, Widow, the Relict the sole Executrix.
