In 1841, Joseph and Eliozabeth (40 & 35) were at High Know Mill, Farmers with 9 children. Neighbours were William and Ann Cooper (65 & 60), her parents.
In 1851, Joseph, an Agricultural labourer, and Betty (52 & 49) were at Guide Post, Turton with Elizabeth (24), Sophia (22), Frances (19), Alice (16), Jane (14), John (12), Joseph (10), James (8) and Sarah Ann (5). Dorothy Cooper (16) was also with them.
In 1871, Joseph and Betty (73 & 66) were farming 24 acres of land at Lower House, Turton.
In 1873, Betty Mather died as was buried at Bradshaw. The record shows she was from Turton. However, it is possible this was Elizabeth Farrand who was also alive in 1871, aged 68.
