George was still living with parents James and Alice in 1871, but had married Elizabeth by 1881. George had a daughter Ellen Hardy, aged 4 in 1881, so Elizabeth must have had an illegitimate child Ellen (as not married before).
In 1877, another George Brooks, son of Thomas married Ellen Halstead, daughter of James.
12 Oct 1879, George Brooks, aged 34, son of James married Elizabeth Hardy, daughter of Thomas at Bolton-le-Moors. Elizabeth already had a daughter Alice that was baptised the daughter of James Hardy, so unlikely she was his.
In 1901, George, Elizabeth (56 & 58) and daughter Alice Brooks (24) had a lodger Mary Alice Hodgen (24) living with them.
