Richard De Cornwall Plantagenet 
Richard De Cornwall was born in Winchester Castle, Hampshire, England.1 Richard De Cornwall's father was John Lackland I Plantagenet and his mother was Isabella De Taillefer. His paternal grandparents were King of England Henry and Eleanor Of Aquitaine; his maternal grandparents were Aymer De Taillefer and Alice De Courtenay. He had two brothers named Henry III King Of and Raymond IV Count Of Provence. He had three half-brothers and three half-sisters, named Richard, Hugh XI, Guillaume De Lusignan, Matilda, Joan Princess Of and Alice De Lusignan. He died on April 2nd, 1272 in Newark Castle, Nottinghamshire. He was buried in Worcester Cathedral.1 1 General Notes

1256. Some say married 13 Mar 1231. Weir says died Berkhampstead Castle and buried Hayles Abbey.
This genealogy is rather confused, with several conflicting versions. Sir Richard de Cornwall, Earl of Cornwall; King of the Romans, son of King John Lackland & Queen Isabella Taillefer, had three wives according to Tompsett and the IGI. The third marriage, to Beatrix De Falkenberg produced the child Walter De Cornwall, which line ascends to the Peverell family, Margaret De Cornwall being the mother of Sir Hugh Peverell. Sir Richard also had a concubine. According to Vivian's Champernowne, p. 160, upper right, it seems that her name was Joan Unknown (maiden name unknown). Tompsett lists 4 children of this concubine relationship - Lawrence, etc -although his 'Joan De Cornwall' may be the later Joan Okeston in fact.
Concubine Joan Unknown later married Richard De Valletort, thus becoming Mrs. Joan De Valletort. Her husband died and she became a widow (relict). She then married Sir Alexander Okeston. They had a child Joan the heiress, who was Joan Okeston. This Joan Okeston married Richard Champernowne. She had only this one husband, as did Richard Champernowne have only this one wife.
Of this last marriage, their grandson Sir Richard Champernowne married a Joan De Valletort, who was the daughter and heir of
Ralph de Valletort of Tawton, Devonshire.
Other genealogies disagree. The identity and number of Joan Okeston/Valletort/Unknown is confusing, Beatrix de Falkenburg has three possible sets of parents, and the identity of Walter de Cornwall's mother is unknown.
