John MacDonald Rushing 
John MacDonald was born on October 13th, 1866 in Pike Co., AL.1 John MacDonald's father was Mathew M. (Mack) Rushing and his mother was Sarah Jane Amerson. His paternal grandparents were William Cain Rushing and Mary Ann Rushing; his maternal grandparents were Wiley Bradford Amason and Eliza M. Smart. He had eight brothers and two sisters, named Joseph Thomas, Thomas Jefferson, William Henry, Mathew B., Newton, Theophilus, David, Perry D., Elizabeth Jane and Martha. He was the fifth oldest of the eleven children. He died at the age of 81 on May 13th, 1948 in Coffee Co., AL. He was buried in Zoar Methodist Church Cemetery, Coffee Co., AL..1 1 General Notes

When a young boy, John had an eye put out by a splinter from some wood
that his father was chopping.
John and Eudora purchased land from his parents, Mack and Sarah Rushing,
20 Jan 1898 in Coffee County, Section 31, Township 7, Range 20, recorded
in Deed Book 0-2, page 357, Coffee County Courthouse, AL.
John and Eudora had six children and Eudora was carrying the seventh
child when she became ill. Missouri Cook, a good friend and neighbor
offered to help Eudora during this time. Eudora gave birth to a daughter
whom they named Pearlie. Eudora died 11 Aug 1901, exactly one month
after Pearlie's birth.
Missouri continued to help with the care of John's children and did such
a good job that he asked her to marry him.
