Temperance Rushing 
Temperance was born about 1795 in Beaufort District, St. Peters Parish, SC.1 Temperance's father was Mathew Malachi Rushing and her mother was Elizabeth Thornhill. She had four brothers and a sister, named Mathew, Malachi, Arthur, William Cain and Rosannah. She was the third youngest of the six children. She died in July 1876 in Pike Co., AL. She was buried in Beulah Cemetery, Pike County, AL.1 1 
Temperance and Cornelious were married in a religious ceremony about 1816 in SC.1 They had six sons and three daughters, named William Edward, Malachi A., Charles Richard, Henry Porter, Sefsee, Francis Marion, Eliza M., Isabel Jane and Caroline Temperance.

Caroline Temperance Smart
Caroline Temperance was born on March 25th, 1837 in AL.1 She died at the age of 84 on May 22nd, 1921 in Coker, Tuscaloosa Co., AL.1
