Mathew Rushing, son of Mathew and Elizabeth (Thornhill) Rushing was born
circa 1785 in S. C. Mathew married___ ___ and they had seven children.
The following is a passport issued by the Governor of Georgia to Mathew
Rushing: Executive Department, Thursday 18th October 1810.
On application ordered: That passports be prepared for the following
persons to travel through the Creek Nation of Indians, to wit, one for
Mathew Rushing, with his wife and seven children, from Beaufort District,
S. C., and one Loftin Fairchild with his , one child, and two negroes for
the County of Twiggs in this State, which were presented and signed. The
names of Mathew Rushing's wife and children are unknown.(1)
